Best eSIM for cruise ships in 2026: ports, at-sea coverage, and the satellite trap

Cruise data is the most expensive cellular data on Earth — Royal Caribbean's "Cellular at Sea" partner charges $5+ per MB when you're outside port. An eSIM doesn't fix that (nothing does, short of paying for the ship's Wi-Fi), but it does fix the port-day problem.

The two-mode cruise eSIM strategy

1. At sea: Phone in airplane mode. Use the ship's Wi-Fi (or don't).
